Nakhon Nayok
Nakhon Nayok is a provincial capital on the north-eastern edge of the great rice-growing plain of the Menam Chao Phraya which becomes densely forested hill country immediately behind the town. Its main attraction is Wang Takrai, a national park famed as one of the most beautiful in Thailand, and very popular with the people of Bangkok at weekends.
By car: Highway 1 from Bangkok, then 305 just beyond the airport (110 km (68 mi.)). Much prettier, if somewhat longer, variations are Highway 1 to Hin Kong (94 km (58 mi.)) then Highway 33.
By bus: from Bangkok Northern Bus Terminal (137 km (85 mi.)).

Nam Tok Sarika
A waterfall worth visiting is Nam Tok Sarika, reached by Highways 3049/3050. The water crashes 70 m (230 ft) down from the rocks onto the stone slabs in the valley below. Here, and at Nam Tok Nang Rong, there are a number of little restaurants.
