Menam Kok Attractions

From Tha Thon, the border town about 22 km (14 mi.) from Fang, it is possible to make the spectacular and potentially dangerous trip on a tour boat to Chiang Rai, traveling downriver between rocky cliffs and riding the Menam Kok rapids. It is advisable to check beforehand with local experts or the YMCA tourist information services in Chiang Rai at the height of the rainy season, that the boats are actually running. This is because occasionally the river level is too high for them to proceed under a couple of low level bridges.
