Richmond Attractions

Located southwest of Houston, Richmond (pop. 14,000) was established in 1822. There are a number of historic buildings dating back to the late 1800's and early 1900's. The region is mainly a farming and ranching area with industries such as oil, salt, sulphur and steel also contributing to the economy.
Confederate Museum
The Confederate Museum displays Confederate arms, uniforms, money, period clothing, furniture, art, and tape-recorded histories of antebellum era.
Fort Bend County Courthouse
The courthouse was built in 1908 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The exterior features a silver dome and cornices of copper while the interior contains mosaic tile floors and 3-story rotunda.

George Ranch Historical Park
The George Ranch Historical Park is a working ranch and live history museum. Located on the grounds are a 1890's Victorian mansion and a 1930's ranch house. Demonstrations of ranch skills and soap making are provided.
