Midland (pop. 95,000) is the hometown of President George Bush. The area is known for it's oil and gas reserves which are prevalent in this area known as the Permian Basin.

Haley Library & History Center
The Haley Library & History Center houses the collection and historical research of J. Evetts Haley. With more than 25,000 books, manuscripts and other printed material, the Haley Library preserves early Western life for future generations.

Fine western art and historical artifacts are on display including a life size bronze longhorn cow and calf and the original Alamo mission bell, cast in 1722.
