Denison (pop. 22,500) developed as a railroad town in 1872. Historically the town is known for being the birthplace of President Eisenhower. There are also other historical attractions in and around the town.
This late 1800's home was the birthplace of President Dwight D. Eisenhower. The home has been restored and is open to the public. There is also a visitors center with displays on life in the mid 1900's.

The Frontier Village displays 20 restored buildings dating from 1840 to 1900. The buildings are furnished in period and include a schoolhouse and jail, among others. There is also a museum which displays other pioneer items.
The Lake Texoma Recreation Area covers almost 200,000 acres spread over Oklahoma and Texas. Lake Texoma includes almost 90,000 acres. Boating, camping, hiking, swimming, and golf are all popular activities in the area.
The Red River Railroad Museum houses artifacts and documents related to the Katy Railroad including an indoor theatre and railroad engine simulator. Located outside of the building are a diesel engine, cabooses, tank cars, and gondola car.
