Alvin Attractions

Alvin (pop. 20,000) is located between Houston and Galveston. The town's main industry developed as a result of the discovery of oil in the 1930's. Alvin is also known for being the home town of baseball pitcher Nolan Ryan.

Some available activities in the area include hiking, birding, nature trails, bass fishing, golf, camping, scuba diving, and canoeing. Also of interest are the Alvin Antique Center & Marketplace, as well as the Gulf Coast Speedway.

Alvin is also known as "The Babe on the Bayou".
Bayou Wildlife Park
Bayou Wildlife Park features both free roaming and caged animals from around the globe, which can be viewed from a tram. There is also a petting zoo and an opportunity to feed some of the animals.
