Telc Chateau

Dominating the main square of Telc, the Chateau is hard to miss. Originally a 14th Century Gothic castle, the Telc Chateau was substantially altered in the second half of the 16th Century. The alterations included changing the appearance of the chateau to that of the Renaissance style along with the addition of the All Saints Chapel and the park.

The chateau boasts a stunning interior highlighted by sgraffiti from the 16th Century. Also of note are the wooden waffle floors. An extensive collection of 17th Century weaponry is on display as is a collection of hunting and safari trophies.

Also in the Telc Chateau is an interesting display of the work by Czech painter Jan Zrzavy (1890 - 1977) His specialties were surrealist works and landscapes. Some of the pictures are actually quite bizarre, however, art is in the eye of the beholder. Two tours of varying length and content are available for visitors.
