Taranto - New Town Città Nuova

From the old town the Ponte Girevole leads over the Canale Navigabile, one of the few places in the Mediterranean where the ebb and flow of the tide can be observed, into the New Town (Città Nuova), with its wide parallel streets. 100m/110yd beyond the bridge is the palm-shaded square known as Villa Garibaldi, on the east side stands the imposing Palazzo degli Uffici (1896).
