Ebano

About 60km/37mi to the west of Tampico on the MEX 70 is the town of Ebano (S.L.P.). A Huastec archaeological site was discovered near here which reveals an interesting early building from the epochs of Pánuco I to II (350 BC-AD 200 - in other words from the pre-Classic period. It is a dome-shaped building almost 30 m (98 ft) in diameter and 3 m (10 ft) high, the rounded shape of which is characteristic of Huastec architecture. This temple is thought to have been consecrated to the wind god Ehécatl. Access to the excavation site, however, is not easy.
