Via Mala - new road to Zillis

The new road through the Via Mala (No. 13 - distances about the same as on the old road) runs through a gallery, beyond which the old road, going in the opposite direction, comes in on the left. It then traverses a winding tunnel, crosses the Hinterrhein on a pre-stressed concrete bridge 170 m/558ft long and runs through another curving tunnel 400 m/1,313ft long, beyond which the old road, with the bridge at Rania, can be seen lower down on the right. Then through a gallery and a short tunnel to an access road to the expressway, 5.3km/3mi from Rongellen and 1km/ 0.6mi north of Zillis.
