The quiet resort of Berlingen (alt. 398 m/1,306ft), has a Town Hall of 1780, then continue to Steckborn (404 m/1,326ft: pop. 4,500), an ancient little town on a peninsula in the Untersee which is a popular holiday resort (picturesque half-timbered houses).
The Town Hall dates from 1667 and has a collection of weapons on the first floor (open
weekdays). The Town church (1776), a plain Baroque building by F. A. Bagnato, has extensive wide views from the tower. The Roman Catholic Jakobuskirche (St James's church) was built in 1963. At the southwest end of the town is the Bernina sewing-machine factory, with a sewing-machine museum.
