In the park-like and wooded high valley of Lenzerheide (Romansch Planüra), the beauty of which has long attracted visitors, are the two resorts of Lenzerheide and Valbella, on either side of the Heidsee (the "Lei"; 1,493 m/4,899ft; swimming beach), on the road from Chur to the Julier Pass and into the Engadine.

To the east of the two resorts, which are popular both in summer and in winter, rear up the Aroser Rothorn (2,984 m/9,791ft), the Lenzerhorn (2,911 m/9,551ft) and the ridges of the Parpaner Rothorn (2,824 m/9,266ft) and Schwarzhorn (2,683 m/8,801ft); on the west, Alpine meadows extend up the slopes of Piz Scalottas (2,324 m/7,625ft) and the Stätzerhorn (2,574 m/8,445ft). These two resorts have expanded to form one town which is characterized by its Swiss chalet architecture. For the active holidaymaker there is golf, horse riding, tennis, water sports, walking and climbing to choose from as well as winter sports.
