Gruyères (district)
(Local Name: Greyerzer Land) The district of Gruyères (German Grayerzer Land), in the southern half of the canton of Fribourg, is a gently rolling Pre-Alpine region mainly devoted to intensive stock-farming and renowned as the home of Gruyère cheese. Its beautiful scenery, numerous remains of the past and vigorous folk traditions make it an attractive tourist region.
