Brissago Attractions

3.5km/2mi from Port Ronco is Brissago (alt. 219 m/719ft), a popular summer resort (swimming lido), also noted for the manufacture of cigars ("Brissago", a long thin Virginia cigar). The town is charmingly situated at the foot of Monte Limidario (2,189 m/7,182ft), on the lower slopes of which are beautiful gardens with Mediterranean plants. It is open from April to mid November. 2km/1mi beyond Brissago, at the little Lombard-style Renaissance church of the Madonna del Ponte (1528), is the Italian frontier.
