Laholm Attractions
30km/19mi south of Halmstad is Laholm (pop. 22,000), which is probably the oldest town in Halland, the foundation of a settlement on the Laga being recorded in 13th century documents. Nowadays Laholm is an idyllic little town where life still moves at a rather deliberate pace. Laholm is notable for the church from 1225, the intact medieval street structure, and the numerous works of art in its streets and squares. Among the works of art - a fountain with a sculpture by the Italian Luciano Minguzzi commemorating the work for peace of Count Folke Bernadotte (1895-1948), Dag Hammarskjöld (1905-61) and President J. F. Kennedy. In Hästtorg (Horse Square) is the Horse Fountain and in Stora Torg the Laga Fountain (both by John Lundqvist).
Town Hall
On the south Gable of the Laholm Town Hall mechanical figures perform a jousting scene daily at noon and 6pm. In the old part of the town (Gamleby) are picturesque old houses.
