Suphanburi - Don Chedi
24 km (15 mi.) north-west of Suphanburi is Don Chedi (Highway 322 to U Ya, then right); a bronze monument has been erected to commemorate a decisive battle of King Naresuan against the Burmese (1592). Seated on an elephant Naresuan killed the Burmese crown prince Min Chit Swa. The monument was designed by Prof. Silpa Bhirasi and cast in 1959 at the Silpakorn School of Art in Bangkok. The chedi, which was built by King Naresuan, has collapsed and been replaced by a modern monument.
