Description
Pass along the Pfarrgasse at the southern end of the Steyr Stadtplatz to come to the Gothic parish church (15th-17th C.) on Brucknerplatz; note the font of 1569, the Gothic tabernacle and some beautiful stained glass and old gravestones. In the 19th C. the Baroque furnishings were removed and replaced by Neo-Gothic. Anton Bruckner often stayed at the nearby presbytery, where there is a memorial to the composer. Immediately to the south of the church stands the Late Gothic St Margaret's Chapel (Margaretenkapelle), originally a cemetery chapel (c. 1430 by Hans Puchsbaum), with an interesting roof turret.
