St John - St John's Carnival

The largest event on the island, St John's Carnival begins around July 1 and climaxes on July 4 or 5. While the event centers on the celebrations of Emancipation Day and the U.S. Independence Day, the Carnival has more to do with Afro-Caribbean celebrations. Festivities include costumed parades, steel pan bands, and musical competitions.
