St John - St John Hiking Trails
St John is a paradise for tropical hikers with 22 trails maintained by the National Park Service. Many of the hiking trails were once part of the colonial Danish road system. St John's hiking trails connect visitors with the beautiful beaches and bays, rugged mountains, tropical forests, dry cactus woodlands and historic ruins on St. John. The trails are part of the Virgin Islands National Park.

Caneel Hill Trail
Caneel Hill Trail is a rugged trail (2.4mi/3.9km) beginning with a 0.8mi/1.2km climb to the top of Caneel Hill (719ft/219m), and then climbing higher to the top of Margaret Hill (840ft/256m). A steep descent through the forest to the coast follows.
Cinnamon Bay Self-Guided Trail
The Cinnamon Bay Self-Guided Trail is an easy 0.5mi/0.8km shady trail leading to the ruins of a sugar factory. The loop also leads through an old Danish cemetery. Marked signs along the way identify the vegetation and explain some local history.
Francis Bay Trail
The Francis Bay Trail is an easy trail covering 0.5mi/0.8km following the rim of a salt pond where wading birds are usually spotted. The trail continues along a boardwalk through a mangrove forest where an area has been cleared for viewing the bird habitat. The trail leads to the broad shaped-shaped beach at Francis Bay.
Lind Point Trail
The Lind Point Trail hike follows 1.1mi/2km of the north shore coastline moving east to Caneel Bay. The moderate hike ascends 0.4mi/.64km through cactus dry forest to St John's scenic Lind Point overlook. Other side trails lead to Salomon and Honeymoon beaches.
