Description
The former St Augustine jail, built in 1892, was turned into a tourist attraction in 1953. Aside from housing criminals, the jail was the home of the sheriff and his family. The sheriff's living quarters, the kitchen, the different groups of cells (for blacks, whites, women and solitary) and the execution room are available for touring. There is a display of weaponry on the second floor.
