Tuy Attractions
The old Spanish frontier town of Túy, picturesquely situated on a hill above the right bank of the Río Miño, was originally the Iberian settlement of Tude, which put up a long resistance to the Romans before being finally conquered. In the eighth Century it became capital of the Visigothic kingdom of Galicia, and in the 11th century it was briefly held by a Viking chieftain called Olof before being recaptured by Alfonso V. Túy is the Spanish frontier control post on the frontier with Portugal, which is formed by the Río Miño. The river is spanned by a lattice girder bridge 333m/364yd long.
