Torremolinos Tourist Attractions

Torremolinos is a popular resort, much favored by package tour operators, on the coast road between Málaga and Algeciras. Lying in a wide bay with a beach almost 9km/6mi long, it owes its excellent climate to the shelter provided by the Sierra Tejada to the north and the Sierra Nevada to the south. In the 19th century a mere village which had grown up around the towers and windmills (torres, molinos) from which it takes its name, Torremolinos is now a long range of concrete buildings - hotels, high-rise apartment blocks and places of entertainment - lining the beach. The life of the town centers on the old Calle San Miguel, while the former fishermen's quarters of La Carihuela and El Bajondilla have developed into heavily built-up holiday settlements. Around Torremolinos are numerous modern developments with holiday homes and apartments, which make this area, together with Fuengirola to the southwest and Málaga to the northwest, one of the largest tourist complexes in Europe - though one that still lacks a sewage plant.
Sport and Recreation
The leisure activities offered by Torremolinos include every kind of water sport, fishing, scuba diving (with facilities for the hire of boats and equipment), sailing, a Wax Museum, bullfights, golf, tennis and riding.Everything that one would expect to find at a seaside resort is here in Torremolinos.
