Walks must be planned well in advance, since accommodation in mountain huts has to be booked in plenty of time. Except on organized tours, walkers must carry all their gear and food with them. They must be prepared for changeable weather and long spells of rain: rainproof clothing, stout footwear and sandfly and mosquito repellents are essentials.
