South Lake Tahoe - Tallac Historic Site
The Tallac Historic Site is the remains of the Baldwin, Pope and Heller Estates. These elaborate summer estates were built by California's "nouveau riche" during the late-nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries. An art gallery allows visitors to watch artists work.
The Baldwin Estate is now a house museum with guest cabins offering art exhibits and workshops during the summer months. The Pope House is an interpretive center for the site with historic tours, art exhibits, and a living history program.
