Chamberlain Attractions
Chamberlain (pop. 2,600) grew quickly after the discovery of gold in the Black Hills. The Milwaukee Railroad reached the end of the line at Chamberlain in 1880 and the town became a stopping point for freight and passengers. The Native American Scenic Byway begins in Chamberlain.
In recent years Chamberlain gained fame when the skeleton of a 78 million year old sea lizard was unearthed inside city limits in 1992. Digs since then have revealed a number of finds, including a mother mososaur carrying twins was discovered in the summer of 1995.
