Clarens Attractions
The little town of Clarens is a convenient staging-point from which to visit the Golden Gate Highlands National Park, near the Lesotho border. The town, founded in 1912, is named after Clarens in Switzerland, where Paul Kruger, former President of the Transvaal, died in exile in 1904. A number of artists live in the town, and there are also a few holiday homes.
