Telemark Canal
From Skien the Telemark Canal runs northwest through the Norsø and the Bandaksvatn, a picturesque lake shut in by high hills, to Dalen (105km/65mi from Skien). From the beginning of June to the middle of August motorships sail from Skien to Dalen daily (about 10 hours).

At Høydalsmo, Road 45 branches off E 76 on the left to Dalen, at the end of the Telemark Canal from Skien. Dalen is beautifully situated at the west end of the 26km/16mi-long Bandaksvatn. Dalen is noted for endless hiking trails and extraordinary fishing opportunities.
Just before Dalen is the village of Eidsborg, with a stave church (first mentioned in the records in 1354 but later much altered) and an open-air museum.

Ravnejuv
From Dalen, Road 38 runs north, passing the steep rock face of the Ravnejuv (gorge), and returns to E 76 at Åmot.
