Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park maintains 15 restored buildings in the Skagway historic district to commemorate the Klondike Gold Rush from 1897-98.
The park is also home to the Chilkoot Trail and White Pass. Visitors can attempt to hike the 33-mile-long Chilkoot Trail which begins at the Taiya River bridge.
White Pass and Yukon Route Railroad Depot, one of Alaska's oldest, houses the visitor center. Two films are shown, the first is about the gold rush and the second is about hiking the Chilkoot Trail.
