The Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center in Sioux City presents displays about the nearby Loess Hills, which were formed many thousands of years ago by the deposition of windblown soil. Native prairie and woodland areas feature many rare species of wildflowers, such as yucca, skeleton plant, and buffalo berry.
