Description
Fort Huachuca was originally set up in 1877 as a temporary camp to defend against raiding Apache warriors, but soon became a permanent fort. By 1886 it was the headquarters for the campaign against Geronimo. After his surrender the fort remained active due to its strategic location near the Mexican border. It is currently a testing center for military electronics and communications equipment.
