San Bartolomeo Description
The church of San Bartolomeo in Scicli has a high, tower-like front frequently found in southern Sicily. The central section is emphasized by three pillars on each side of the door, by the statue of the saint in the large niche in the upper floor, and the dome on the top of the bell-story. This lavishly ornate building was consecrated in 1763. Inside the church is an elaborate 16th century crib, and the Descent from the Cross is 17th century by Mattia Preti of Cantanzaro.
