Savonlinna - International Opera Festival

The Savonlinna International Opera Festival, Finland's best-known cultural event, is held in the courtyard of Olavinlinna Castle in June and July. In addition to opera, including works by Finnish composers and productions by visiting foreign companies, the program of the festival also includes a variety of concerts.
This annual month-long summer festival not only includes operas, but also orchestral, choral and chamber concerts, recitals and ballets.

Cooperation with the St Petersburg Mariinsky Theater has allowed for a diversification of productions.

The daily performances take place in the Olavinlinna Castle, the Music Institute and local churches.
