Pelican Man's Bird Sanctuary Description
Pelican Man's Bird Sanctuary is a non-profit, educational facility dedicated to the rehabilitation of sick and injured birds and animals. It was founded in 1985 by Dale Shields and has grown into an operation with more than 10 staff and 300 volunteers. Together they rescue and rehabilitate more than 5000 animals a year. Many of these are pelicans, injured by fishing line. Birds that cannot be released back into the wild are kept on the property in free-flight aviaries.
