In this area, there are university buildings, stretches of woodland, lakes, cycle tracks and other sports facilities, and various museums and research centers. Several of the faculties and institutes have their own museums, those of archaeology and ethnology, prehistory and veterinary sciences being of particular interest. In the field of art there are the Museu da Cidade Universitária (Rua da Reitoria) and the Mário de Andrade Collection.
