São Lourenço - Parque das Aguas

Parque das Aguas

Much of the town center is occupied by the Parque das Aguas ("Park of the Waters"; area 370,000sq.m/443,000sq.mi), a nature reserve laid out with footpaths and gardens and containing a number of Art Deco pavilions of the 1940s. Within the park are six mineral springs (containing magnesium, carbonic acid, alkaline salts, iron and sulphur) and a handsome spa establishment. It also has a lake (area 90,000sq.m/108,000sq.yds; rowing-boats for hire) with an artificial island, sports facilities, a roller-skating rink, a children's playground and keep-fit trails.
