Museum of New Mexico Highlights

Museum of International Folk Art

Established in 1953, the Museum of International Folk Art claims to have the largest collection of international folk art in the world, including baskets, textiles, wood carving and ceramics. The collections are divided up by geographical region; Africa, Asia and the Middle East, Contemporary Hispano and Latino, European and North American, and Latin American. There are also sections covering Spanish Colonial, and Textiles & Costumes.
The foundation of the collection comes from Florence Dibell Bartlett, who founded the museum. Many other individuals have made sizeable donations to the museum and the collection has expanded greatly over the years.
The museum features a number of temporary exhibitions each year as well as events. Check the calendar to see about upcoming features which might include music, films, lectures, and other programs.

Museum of Indian Arts and Culture

The Museum of Indian Arts and Culture, a renowned institution devoted to the traditional folk arts of the American Southwest, has impressive displays of Indian arts and crafts (headdresses, textiles, basketwork, jewelry, pottery, weaving).

In an adobe building to the west of the palace is the Museum of Fine Arts (sculpture, pottery, woven fabrics).
