Lipizzaner Riding School

The Lipizaner Riding School, a stud farm established in 1965 is the only recognized Spanish Riding School outside Vienna. The Lipizaners are the result of a cross between Berber and Arab horses and Spanish and Italian breeds. When born they range in color between brown and mouse-gray, becoming white only after six to ten years.
Lipizaners, the first of which came to South Africa in 1948, are better at performing difficult dressage movements than any other breed. There are demonstrations of their skill, with musical accompaniment.
