San Miniato - Duomo Santa Maria Assunta e San Genesio

In the Prato del Duomo in San Miniato, a square commanding extensive views, stands the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta e San Genesio, an aisled church dating from the 12th century but subsequently much altered. In the 15th century a massive tower belonging to the old castle was converted into a campanile. During the Baroque period the church was again remodeled, leaving only the facade as it was. The church contains a number of 16th century pictures.
