Old San Juan - Home for the Poor / Institute of Puerto Rican Culture

(Local Name: Casa de Beneficencia / Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña) The Casa de Beneficencia (Home for the Poor) an historical building, was built in the 1840s for the indigent people. Inside it is the Institute / Museum of Puerto Rican Culture, which exhibits artifacts dating from pre-European Puerto Rico and a recreation of a Taíno village. In addition to these exhibits are travelling exhibitions of general interest that rotate through on a regular basis.
