Built by Dominican friars in 1523, the Dominican Convent (Convento de los Dominicos) has served as a convent and later as a shelter from Carib Indian raids. After the Spanish-American War, the U.S. used the Dominican Convent as an Army headquarters. Presently, the restored building provides a venue for musical concerts on the patio.
