Kelley Park, San Jose

Kelley Park offers a number of fun attractions for families, gardeners, history buffs, or people looking for a peaceful place to relax. Within the park are the Happy Hollow Park and Zoo, the Japanese Friendship Garden, the Kelley Park trolley, and the History Park Museum.
The small zoo is a good place for children. Many of the animals are small and friendly looking, and there is also a puppet theater. The Friendship Garden is a tranquil setting with ponds and bridges, and the History Park offers a look a San José's past. However, many people come to Kelley Park simply to enjoy the grounds, have a picnic, or go for a walk.

Located within Kelley Park, History Park Museum gives a glimpse into earlier life and times in the Santa Clara Valley. There are some 27 original and reconstructed buildings within the history park representing various time periods. The Pacific Hotel serves as the Museum Store and provides information and exhibits. This is also where you can register for a docent led tour of the History Park. You have the option of simply wandering the grounds on your own and soaking up the atmosphere.

Japanese Friendship Garden

This 7.5 acre/3 hectare garden is a copy of a park in the Japanese twin town of Okayama, and forms an oasis of peace in Kelley Park. There is also a small zoo.

Happy Hollow Park and Zoo

The Happy Hollow Park and Zoo is located in Kelly Park and has been open since 1961. The park has rides for young children with puppet shows and special events. The zoo features a petting area with llamas, goats and miniature horses.
