The Old Globe Theater in Balboa Park was built in 1935/1936 for the California Pacific International Exposition and based on Shakespeare's globe Theater in London in the style of the 15th century, was destroyed by fire in 1978, but was rebuilt and is now the home of the San Diego Repertory Company.
