Botanical Building Description
The lily pond filled with gold fish in front of the Botanical Building in Balboa Park was used during the Second World War as a swimming pool by patients at the U.S. naval hospital. The building itself is another reminder of the past - the steel framework was actually made for a station belonging to the Santa Fe Railroad but was purchased by the managers of the exhibition. Inside there are more than 500 species of tropical and sub-tropical plants to be seen.
