Hirakud Dam

North of Sambalpur is the longest dam in the world - the Hirakud Dam. A drive on the dyke offers a unique experience to enjoy calm serenity and grandeur of nature. Visitors can enjoy the sight of the mighty Hirakud Dam and the enormous expanse of water from the top of the revolving minaret called Gandhi Minar.

The dam was built using earth, concrete and masonry materials and the reservoir forms the largest artificial lake in Asia.
