Gaisberg
The Gaisberg (1,288m/4,226ft), 15km/9mi from the Salzburg town center, is Salzburg's "own mountain", with beautiful views of the town and surrounding region. In winter its wide expanses of Alpine meadows are a popular skiing area. On the summit are a large parking lot, an inn and a VHF and television relay station.

Elsbethen first developed in Roman times, as a post along a main road. The village is documented as early as 930, under the name "Campanif." It lies at the foot of the Gaisberg, making it a natural starting point for beautiful hikes through nearby moors and dry gorges. The village also has a local heritage museum, as well as numerous sports facilities.
