Salonica - Railroad Cemetery

An attraction of a rather different nature is the large "railroad cemetery" in the old railroad depot (much overgrown: beware of snakes!) on the western outskirts of the city, with numbers of old and frequently rusting locomotives (the oldest dating from 1887) and rolling-stock from many European countries. The "cemetery" can be visited only with special permission from the railroad authorities; but it is possible to get some impression of it from outside by following the railroad line westward from the town, passing between warehouses and workshops.
