Description
East of Roskilde in the Vestskoven Forest the observatory of the celebrated astronomer Ole Rømer (1644-1710) was discovered in 1978. The place is now signposted, and in the nearby Vridsløsemagle Museum information can be obtained about Rømer's work as an astronomer.

A replica of the "Planetarium" built by Rømer is on display in the museum. It was the first mechanical model based on a sun centered solar system. Also on display is Rømer's eclipsareon modeling motions of sun, earth and moon.
