The Trsat Castle (Gradina Trsat) and Church of Our Lady of Trsat (Gospa Trsat) sit high upon a hill above Rejika. A pilgrimage path leads from Titiov Trg at the River Rjecina, up the Petar Kruzic Stairway and follows a path until it reaches the Church of Our Lady of Trsat (Gospa Trsat) at Frankopanski Trg. From there it just a short walk up to Trsat Castle. It is also possible to get to the church and castle via public transport.
The Church of Our Lady of Trsat has long been a pilgrimage site attracting large numbers of followers. It contains a 'miraculous' icon of Mary, considered to be a painting by St Luke, which was donated to the church in the 14th Century.
The Trsat Castle is a 13th Century fort, although it has undergone extensive renovations and alterations since that time. The Trsat Castle was bought by a private individual in the 19th Century and upgraded at that time. The courtyard (konak) maintains much of the original structure.
