Randers - Gammel Estrup Manor House

3 km/2mi west of Auning stands Gammel Estrup, a stately home surrounded by a moat built about 1500 and rebuilt in the Renaissance style. The owners of Gammel Estrup, members of the noble families of Brok and Skeel, were for many years linked with the Danish royal family in the roles of advisors and confidants. In the early 20th century the building was fitted out as the Jutland Manor House Museum (Jyllands Herregardsmuseum). The architects were Matthias Bygmester and Jørgen Skeel. The south wing and staircase tower have been newly built.
