Arecibo Attractions

Founded in 1515, Arecibo is Puerto Rico's largest city in geographical size with an area of 125sq.mi/330.4sq.km. The city is the site of a successful battle fought between Spanish Captain Antonio Correa and soldiers in order to repel a British sea invasion.

Arecibo is not a particularly impressive city but there are a number of interesting sights within close proximity to the city, making it a good place to serve as a base for exploring. Some of the attractions in the area include the Observatorio de Arecibo, the Rio Camuy area.
